"Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70, Service Organizations", is an internationally recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). A SAS 70 audit or service auditor's examination is widely recognized, because it represents that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control activities, which generally include controls over information technology and related processes. The requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SAS 70 audit reports even more important to the process of reporting on effective internal controls at service organisations.
UNICOM is delighted to include a presentation on this essential standard in their forthcoming conference "Regulatory Requirements, Compliance and Emerging Standards in Outsourcing and Shared Services", London, 4-5 July 2005. The presenters share their experience of SAS70 engagements via a participative session on the first day of the conference.

Implementing Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance: Methods and Tools 22 February 2005 Unicom Seminars Ltd.
Most observers would agree that the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOA) is the single most important piece of legislation affecting corporate governance, financial disclosure and the practice of public accounting since the US securities laws of the early 1930s.
With its mass exposure in the financial press, it appears that there is still a great deal of confusion as to how to be compliant and the measures that need to be taken to meet the deadline.
UNICOM, a specialist provider of business-to-business seminars, held a timely event in London on February 22nd 2005 to address the implementation process for SOX compliance. Attended by key business leaders, it attempted to address objectively the obstacles to implementation.
Particular commendation should go to Peter Bonisch, MD of consulting firm, PROSource who delivered a controversial and eye opening presentation that addressed such areas as; emerging issues related to changes in attitudes to internal controls and how to manage the volume of documentation involved in Sarbanes Oxley.
Peter has been advising companies on enterprise risk management and corporate governance for the past 20 years. He will be presenting a controversial piece on SOX in a future issue of FDE magazine.
Unicom Seminars produce seminars and events year round dealing with emerging
issues for the CFO.
