Course Objectives

At the end of the course the participants will understand
• How reviews can aid IT project stakeholders to achieve their objectives
• When Independent Project Assurance is necessary
• The challenges associated with running effective project assurance
• How project reviews can be framed as a double loop learning process to help
both individual projects and the broader organisation to improve performance

Course Overview

Significant investment has been made in IT project management skills over recent
years, but IT projects remain something of a high risk / high reward gamble. They
offer large payoffs if they do succeed, but often fall far short of the promised benefits.
Project reviews are a proven method for improving IT project delivery, yet few
organisations are able to consistently perform effective reviews. This workshop will
help people set up an effective project review process, and use this process to enhance
the benefits they realise from IT projects. It will also help people decide whether an
Independent Project Assurance team is necessary, both to strengthen the review
process and to aid stakeholders outside the project team in their decision making.
